Summary: Nick Carter's whole world is turned upside when he comes home to find his family has been murdered by vampires. For years, he goes through the motions and just floats through life. His girlfriend has left him, and most of his friends. The local bar owner, Brian Littrell, seems to be the only one holding onto to their friendship or so it seems. Someone in the shadows has their eye on Nick Carter, having watched him from afar for far too long. He is about to make his presence known. When it becomes apparent what his intentions are, a whole new can of worms is opened. It seems someone else is interested in Mr. Carter as well. Nick suddenly has too much on his plate. Struggling with the family business, his little brother returning home from college and news from his ex-girlfriend, Carter isn't sure what he is going to do or how to handle the new war that has been brought upon his small town.

What a marvelous piece! There's so much about its composition that I just love. The choice in font works well with the green background texture. Speaking of color, the bright, bright red and deeper, shadowy greens are perfect together, adding just enough but not too much color to the image. The header reads so beautifully - moving from dark [and AJ watching in the shadows] to bright [Nick so, so obvious in his red, attracting the eye and not backing down] to light [The landscape can be a memory or maybe washed in dawn-light]. It feels dynamic, but optimistic. The strong diagonal lines in treeline and fence point the eye right back to the title and center for the composition - very effective. Oh, and I love how the B casts a shadow on Nick's shirt - subtle but beautiful detail there.

I just squeed out loud at your feedback. Seriously you give the best compliments. AJ's sort of...dark in the fic so I thought it was appropriate that he be that here. Nick definitely is defiant so that coming across is awesome that you saw it that way. The landscape is both past and current for Nick so it's something I was shooting for. I love that font for the title. And the title is really great for the fic. And the art, lol.

You already know this but I LOVE IT. It's perfect. It'll work for the whole series because as I got writing, I added some other books so this first part is just the beginning. Any way, I'm rambling. Thank you again!
